A grant can close before you are allowed to apply.
To apply for federal money you need an active registration in SAM.gov. A new one can take weeks. Many grants close sooner than that. Most people find out after they have spent days on the application.
Every grant here carries its own clock: days left to apply, against the days a new registration is likely to take. Grants you cannot make in time are marked, not hidden, so you can plan for the next round.
Public safety software modernization
Example agency · EX-0000
Fit 70 of 100Closes in 20 days
- title mentions ‘public safety’
- open to your applicant type
- closes 6 days before a new SAM.gov registration would clear
How it works
Step 1
Say what you do
List the work you do in your own words. Pick your sectors. Add what you would never apply for.
Step 2
See what fits, and why
Every open grant gets a score out of 100. Under each score are the reasons, so you can disagree with it.
Step 3
Draft the proposal
Paste the funding notice and add facts about your company. Step through the requirements, outline and draft.
What it does not do
- Drafts are starting points. You review them and submit the application yourself on Grants.gov.
- The registration timing is an estimate until your SAM.gov registration is connected.
- We do not guess. Where the draft needs a fact we do not have, it says [Needs input].
